Avoid (g)(10) Live Testing with Your ONC-ATB

Do you have a Live Test scheduled with your ONC Authorized Testing Body (ATB) between now and early December to test the (g)(10) FHIR-based API? You might be misinformed if you think you are required to do a Live Test.

Integrate with a Pre-Certified Third-Party (g)(10) Application and Avoid Live-Testing

Per ONC rules, all EHRs are considered to be modularly certified. This enables EHRs to achieve the Base criteria by using any one of the three options:

  1. Build the requirements internally and certify with an ONC ATB

  2. Buy an application and test it with the ONC ATB under the 'Relied Upon Software' rule

  3. Buy and integrate with a pre-certified third-party (g)(10) application, and blend it with the application’s CMS ID. No Live Testing is required.

The third option was introduced with the 2015 Edition EHR Certification process to simplify the certification of EHR Modules and reduce their certification burden.

The 2014 Edition Release 2 final rule discontinued the “Complete EHR” certification concept beginning with the proposed 2015 Edition, adopted an updated standard (ISO/IEC 17065) for the accreditation of ONC-ACBs, and adopted the “ONC Certified HIT” certification and design mark for required use by ONC-ACBs under the ONC Health IT Certification Program.

Satisfy ‘Certify and Provide’ Cures Act Mandate and Avoid the Penalties

Apart from meeting the Conditions and Maintenance of Certification, and the Real World Test, there are multiple other elements that an EHR needs to satisfy to maintain the Cures-Update Certification status.

  • Identity Manager

  • Developer Portal Validation and Management

  • App Directory Management

  • Patient/Representative Invites Manager

  • Patient-Facing Third-Party App

With BlueButtonPRO’s streamlined integration process and comprehensive solution (including all the above components), your EHR can meet the requirements in time and avoid the consequences of non-compliance.
